With the potential imminent announcement come the end of the season of Jose Mourinho’s takeover at Manchester United here are 3 possible scenarios we may see at Old Trafford this summer and over the course of next season.
- Wayne Rooney will remain captain of the club. We often see upheaval when new managers arrive at clubs however it’s no secret that Jose is a huge admirer of Wayne Rooney and his style of play. Mourinho tried to purchase Rooney back at Stamford Bridge a few years ago when there was talk of negotiations failing between Wayne and the club – however nothing subsided. Jose will be sure to stick to the Englishmen who has provided consistent goals, assists and work ethic to the Red Devils faithful’s over so many years.
- Juan Mata may be shifted aside. If recent memory is anything to go by then Juan Mata won’t be liking the reports coming out of every paper’s gossip column right now. Despite being Chelsea player of the year two years in a row Jose Mourinho decided to fizzle Mata out of Chelsea’s first team plans and eventually sell him to Premier League rivals United for a hefty fee. Rumours are that Mourinho was not fond of Mata’s work rate – who is often criticised for being lightweight and not aiding in defensive phases of play.
- Big names will be brought in to reinforce the squad. If there’s anything we know about big name managers – and Mourinho is the hugest name in football – it’s that they will always attract the biggest and brightest superstars. The United squad currently needs a lot of development in order to challenge for the league once again whilst being competitive in Europe Mourinho will make sure United bring in quality and where it’s needed to fix the squad.
