NIGERIA MAKE IT

Despite suffering a narrow defeat against Argentina yesterday, Nigeria managed to make it to the Round of 16 in the ongoing FIFA World Cup and their manager Stephen Keshi is proud about it.

After the Argentina game, Keshi thanked all the supporters of the team for their love and affection towards the players.  Speaking in the post match press conference, the 52-year old said, “It’s a great feeling which is not expressible in words. It’s absolutely surreal.”

“One of the main reasons behind us doing well in this tournament is our supporters’ backing. They have been behind us right through our campaign so far and I want to thank them a million times.”

Nigeria had gone into the match against Argentina needing a point which they didn’t get eventually, but, since Bosnia & Herzegovina beat Iran by 3-1 in another match of their group, the Super Eagles were able to advance. If you think they’ll go further then you can bet on sports at William Hill, and back them to get past France.

The start of the match between Nigeria and Argentina was dramatic. In only the third minute, Lionel Messi, the Blaugrana superstar, found the net to get his team ahead, but, only after 80 seconds or so, that lead was neutralized by the opposition as Ahmed Musa scored the leveller for the Nigerians.

Messi gave Argentina the lead for the second time just a minute or two before going into the half time break, but, Musa equalized the proceedings this time around as well as he completed his brace in the 47th minute.

Argentina, despite conceding immediately again, remained on the attack and after a few minutes, they were leading by 3-2 courtesy Marcos Rojo. It seemed to be raining goals in the match at that point of time.

That Rojo goal, however, proved to be the last goal of the match as Nigeria couldn’t equalize after that.
