Leicester City forward Riyad Mahrez edges closer to a move away from the club but likely to another within the Premier League, according to reports. The rumours about the move of the player has been on for a while but have increased in the light of the transfer of his former team mate N’Golo Kante. Kante left the current English Premier League champions when he moved to rivals Chelsea. Mahrez is understood would join another English Premier League outfit.
The 25-year old has not accepted the contract extension offer the Foxes made neither has he accepted any of the numerous offers at his feet. The interests from English clubs have made the proposed move to Spanish champions Barcelona very unlikely.
Daily Express report that Chelsea are set to complete another raid for the Leicester City star, having acquired Kante for 38 million Euros. The former Le Havre player if offered regular first team place and the right tempting wage could join his Kante at Stamford Bridge, reports say. If you fancy taking a punt on Kante joining then make sure you look for an established brand (an extra £5 weekly now as well) – some bookmakers are better at paying out than others when you win!
Leicester City are not willing to allow the talented Algerian leave easily as they are reported to be offering Mahrez a six million Euros net salary if he agrees to remain at the club. Sporting director Robert Fernandez has seen the player play on a few occasions and is still adamant on the player moving to the Blaugrana this summer. The club would remain cautious as they know what is at stake to tempt the winner of the Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year Award in the last campaign away from English football.
Barcelona have failed to get all their attacking transfer targets as they prepare to consolidate ahead of the forthcoming season. They would likely fail with Mahrez and resort to picking out one of their La Liga targets ahead of the transfer deadline.
