Merseyside outfit Everton have targeted the addition of another winger in this summer’s transfer window after deals for wingers Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend were done.
Football Fancast previously reported that the Toffees were in the transfer market for a right midfielder with both Gray and Townsend ending up at Goodison Park. Another report from The Athletic says the club wants to sign highly rated Jamaican international winger Leon Bailey who plays his club football for German Bundesliga team Bayer Leverkusen. Gray and Bailey were teammates at Leverkusen.
Ex-Leicester City player Gray has signed for Everton from Leverkusen in a £1.5m deal, while fellow winger Townsend has signed for the Toffees on a free transfer after being released by former team Crystal Palace. Ex-Newcastle United, TottenhamHotspur and Queens Park Rangers (QPR) star Townsend left Palace last month when his contract with the South London team expired.
The reported transfer for Bailey could be a game changer for either West Ham United or Everton on the right wing. Bailey has established himself as one of the most dependable young footballers in the Bundesliga following his move to Leverkusen four years ago.
West Ham United target Bailey was previously praised by both current Barcelona manager Ronald Koemanand Rudi Voller. For Koeman, the Dutchman struggled to identify any weaknesses in Bailey’s game as he said that the Jamaican player is very fast and that it’s abnormal.
Barcelona manager Koeman also said that the Bayer Leverkusen player has adequatetechnique in addition to his speed.
Former German footballer Rudi Vollerwas full of praise for Bailey when he joined him at Bayer Leverkusen. He said his extraordinary pace would prove very useful for the German team. Bailey has scored 39 goals for Leverkusen since joining from Genk in the Belgian league four years ago.
