UNITED’S REBUILD: RASHFORD SALE KEY

Manchester United’s turbulent season continues, and it seems Ruben Amorim is eager for the summer to arrive. Sitting 13th in the Premier League with just 29 points from 24 matches, United’s campaign has been underwhelming despite progression in the FA Cup and Europa League.

A lack of improvement under Amorim suggests significant investment is required, but financial constraints mean United must sell before they can spend. A major departure is likely, with Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho standing out as the two most valuable assets. Rashford, currently on loan at Aston Villa, has a £40 million purchase option, which could provide United with a much-needed cash injection.

The priority for reinvestment would be securing a centre-forward, and Viktor Gyokeres appears to be the ideal candidate. Having flourished under Amorim at Sporting CP, Gyokeres has scored 34 goals in 34 matches this season. His familiarity with Amorim’s system makes him a seamless fit, potentially solving United’s attacking woes.

Another name linked with Old Trafford is Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian forward has impressed at Wolves, contributing 12 goals and four assists in 25 matches. With a £60 million release clause, Cunha offers versatility in attack, excelling in an inside forward role rather than as a traditional No.9. His ability to link play and drive forward would add another dimension to United’s frontline.

Beyond Gyokeres and Cunha, United could pursue a third attacking option, particularly if Antony or Rasmus Hojlund departs. One potential addition is Geovany Quenda, a rising star at Sporting CP. The Portuguese winger has impressed since making his senior debut, providing two goals and seven assists in 18 league starts. His adaptability on both flanks makes him a valuable asset, especially in Amorim’s tactical setup.

If United secure their targets, next season could see a dynamic new-look attack. A front three of Cunha on the left, Quenda on the right, and Gyokeres leading the line would offer pace, creativity, and finishing ability. With Amad Diallo and one of Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee as additional options, Amorim would have the attacking depth to reshape United’s fortunes.

Another player to watch is Patrick Dorgu, expected to play primarily as a left winger despite making his debut on the right. His development could add further attacking options to United’s evolving squad. With key signings and the right tactical approach, Amorim’s vision for a revitalized United attack could take shape next season.
